Description
On 837 transaction does X12 still recommends the "MI" qualifier for the recipient ID?
Has the 7030 version guide address this issue?
RFI Response
Draft – ASC X12 understands that the Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) will replace the Medicare Health Insurance Claims Number (HICN) as the member identification number for Medicare beneficiaries. For 5010 claim transactions the MBI will be reported using the MI qualifier.
At the time of this response, there is no request for a different qualifier to be used within the 7030 guide for the MBI.
RFI Recommendation
The 7030 claim guides are scheduled for public review and comment starting on February 1, 2017. The user community should review the 7030 guide at that time and enter comments as appropriate.
