Logisticare has published a CG for Transportation Providers which advises that loop 2300 K3 is required to output the following information for all Ambulance claims:
Pick-up odometer, Pick-up date and time, Drop-off odometer, Drop-off date and time, Will-call received date and time, 'Patient no show' - yes or no indicator, driver name, vehicle VIN number and driver's license number.
We have not found a request matching this in the portal but would like to confirm whether this particular use has been approved by X12.
There has been no approval of an 837P 2300 loop K3 segment usage related to the ambulance information mentioned. Usage of the K3 segment is constrained by the requirements of the segment situational rule, and any usage outside of those constraints is inconsistent with the guide. The situational rule reads:
"Required when ALL of the following conditions are met:
- A regulatory agency concludes it must use the K3 to meet an emergency legislative requirement;
- The administering regulatory agency or other state organization has completed each one of the following steps:
contacted the X12N workgroup,
requested a review of the K3 data requirement to ensure there is not an existing method within the implementation guide to meet this requirement
- X12N determines that there is no method to meet the requirement. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send."
If an organization has a non-regulatory related business need for data, that should be submitted to X12N as a change request for a future guide through http://changerequest.x12.org/.
