Description
At issue in 5010X279 271 2110c loop when the REF01 value is 1W and the REF03 (Description) is being passed back. Is it ok to send a description in the REF03 when the REF01 value equals 1W?
SITUATIONAL RULE: Required when REF01 = “18", ”6P" or “N6" and a name needs to be associated with the corresponding identifier. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send.
RFI Response
Sending a description in the REF03 when the REF01 value equals “1W” (Member Identification Number) is not a compliant use of this data element. As you have noted, the Situational rule for REF03 prohibits the use of REF03 unless REF01 is either “18”, “6P” or “N6”.
