SV107 Duplicate Pointers
Description
For 837P-5010 are duplicate Diagnosis Code Pointers Allowed? i.e. Within SV107-1 through SV107-4 can they contain the same value? Our interpretation of the TR3 guide is that you can not have duplicate values, however we have a trading partner where their interpretation is that the values within the SV107-1 through SV107-4 can equal.
RFI Response
The usage rules for the subsequent diagnosis pointers reads:
SITUATIONAL RULE: Required when it is necessary to point to a second diagnosis related to this service line. Acceptable values are the same as SV107-1. If not required by this implementation guide, do not send.
Since a duplicate pointer would not be reporting an additional diagnosis, it must not be sent.
